Experience Creativity in Nature: Open Studios at Birtley Woodland Art Space – 7th & 8th June 2025?

Step into a world where art and nature intertwine at the 5th annual Open Studios event at Birtley Woodland Art Space. Nestled within the serene 45-acre Birtley Estate in Bramley, Surrey, this event, in collaboration with Surrey Artists Open Studios (SAOS), offers a unique opportunity to engage with local artists and immerse yourself in their creative processes.?

Meet the Artists

This year’s lineup features a diverse group of talented artists:?

  • Fiona Wheeler: A botanical artist whose detailed watercolour and coloured pencil artworks capture the intricate beauty of nature.?

  • Claire Quick: A jeweller inspired by natural patterns and textures, creating pieces that reflect the complexity of our surroundings.?

  • Larisa Han: An impressionistic and abstract landscape painter, drawing inspiration from open skies and expressive clouds.?

  • Rob Thompson: A bespoke furniture and lamp maker, showcasing the natural beauty of wood through his creations.?

  • Ruth Wheeler: A wood sculptor, pyrographer and mixed media artist, known for her outdoor sculptures and wellbeing pieces.?

  • Lorraine Ellery Matthews (Hedges & Hurdles): A willow artist and basket maker, offering hands-on workshops in willow weaving and traditional countryside crafts.?

Visitors can look forward to:?

  • Interactive Workshops: Try your hand at traditional crafts, including willow weaving and pyrography.?

Access is via the main Birtley House entrance, with parking available 200 yards on the left. The studio is a short 2-minute walk from the car park. Blue badge holders can arrange closer parking by contacting the organiser in advance.?
